If you fish the Parks Highway during the salmon seasons, we highly recommend you consider fishing Sheep Creek! Although it is much less fished than the more popular areas of Willow Creek and Montana Creek, Sheep Creek has never let us down! It has good runs of king, silver, pink and chum salmon. There are also good numbers of rainbow and grayling in the creek during the salmon runs.
Accomodations Rating: Nice. Sheep Creek offers no fee tent and RV camping, primitive restrooms, and trash service.
Access: Relatively Easy. The confluence of Sheep Creek is accessed via a well maintained trail several hundred yards from the parking area. There is a few hundred feet of elevation difference to reach the fishing area, but it is accomplished via a four wheeler accessible switchback trail.
Crowds: Light to Moderate. Relatively few people fish this outstanding fishery considering the quality of fishing.

King Salmon (Chinook) Fishing Rating: Good to Outstanding. Once you fish Sheep Creek during the king salmon run you will wonder how it is such a well kept secret (in comparison to Montana and Willow)! Chum Salmon Fishing Rating: Good to Really Good. Chum salmon arrive just ahead of the silvers and offer good fishing. Fishing Techniques: Small flies and eggs are the most effective techniques. Some chum are also caught using spinners and spoons.
Rainbow Trout Fishing Rating: Decent. Rainbows are present in Sheep Creek while the salmon are in, but the best fishing occurs late in September.
