If you fish the Parks Highway during the salmon seasons, you should check out Montana Creek. Although it can be quite crowded during the peak of the king salmon run, a lot of people catch nice sized kings here. The river also supports good returns of silvers, chum, and pinks. If you want to target rainbows and grayling, there are good numbers in the creek during the salmon seasons.
Accomodations Rating: Nice! There are several for fee RV camping facilities at the Parks Highway bridge crossing of Montana Creek.
Access: Relatively Easy. Well maintained paths provide access to the king fishing holes along Montana Creek as well as to the more popular fishing area just downstream from the mouth.
Crowds: Moderate to Extreme. If you fish this area prior to the fishery turning weekend only (Fridays at midnight to Mondays at midnight) from about the 10th of June through the following weekend, the crowds will be light - especially during the week and it is possible to catch a reasonable number of kings per day (5 to 10 kings per day in our experiences). During the three day weekend fishing, the crowds will be extreme and if you are in the right spots using the right techniques, 5 to 10 kings per day is possible, but the fishing will be crowded.
