The Kashwitna River is glacial and swift. If you fish the Parks Highway during king or silver salmon season, there are much better clearwater tributaries to fish. Although there is public access to the Kashwitna River at the Parks Highway bridge, the only real opportunity to catch fish will be by hiring a guide with a boat and fishing from the Susitna Landing.
Accomodations Rating: Primitive. There is a pullout along the Parks Highway bridge and also better accomodations for a fee at the Susitna landing
Access: Easy. The Parks Highway bridge provides easy access to the river via a pull-out on the north side of the river. To have the best chance of catching fish, hire a guide and boat to take off from the Susitna Landing.
Fishing Techniques: ??? The best option is to hire a guide from the Susitna Landing if you must fish the Kashwitna. Otherwise fish one of the many other Susitna tributaries.
Crowds: None. You will not find people fishing the Kashwitna River for kings very often.
